Georgia's history is rich in her people and her land. Shortly after the United States declared its independence and just before the outbreak of the American Revolution, the Georgia General Assembly was created in 1777 making it older than the United States Congress. Today, 56 State Senators serve in the best interests of over nine million Georgians.

Georgia's economy was built on agriculture. Agribusiness still remains our largest industry, but is joined by aerospace manufacturing, tourism, military bases, and high technology firms. Georgia-based companies like Coca-Cola, CNN, Delta, and Home Depot are recognized around the world. Georgia also holds a promising future; in 2008 - Forbes Magazine ranked Georgia as one of the top states in the nation in terms of economic development.

This is the peoples' legislature. We create and amend laws that affect your life everyday including education, transportation, healthcare, commerce, and public safety.
